Shame on you, Lilly Pulitzer!

This morning marked the beginning of the 2013 Lilly Pulitzer Endless Summer Sale, which many preps eagerly await each August. And like usual, the site continues to crash.

I love Lilly Pulitzer dresses, tops, shorts, pants, sweaters, scarves…basically everything. They are made well, look elegant and last forever. But the prices are so darn expensive, that many girls are forced to wait until Lilly offers their semi-annual sales. Prices are slashed ridiculously low. You can get a dress that was originally $200+ for just $50!

But alas, with a great deal comes frustrating tech problems. Lilly’s server cannot handle the onslaught of shoppers and keeps displaying this message, much to our frustration:

Shoppers have quickly taken to social media to voice their complaints, and they are not holding back. Facebook member Lauri Grossman Berns complained on the Lilly Pulitzer Facebook page, “Over 2 hours, Really? Do we have to sit here all day? Is anyone able to access the sale?” Another Lilly fan, Jennifer Burke Barba stated how the situation was  “very disappointing… i’d rather travel to king of prussia and wait in line for the warehouse sale…,” while Jess Manuel joked, “This is making me need wine already today.”

All jokes aside, Lilly Pulitzer has really dropped the ball on this one. Many fans pointed out how this is the fourth year in a row that the site has had issues and that since shoppers pay such high prices for Lilly merchandise, the least they could do is upgrade their servers to handle the demand. Others feel the sale should be closed temporarily until the problem can be fixed, as some shoppers are somehow able to get through to the site and purchase items, while others are stuck continually reloading.

What do you think about the Lilly debacle? Have you been able to get through, and if so do you have any tips for the rest of us Lilly-hopefuls?

I haven’t be able to get through on my phone or on my laptop. I do have items in my cart but every time I attempt to finish paying the website crashes. Very frustrating. Maybe I will pour myself a mimosa to get me through this tough time 😉
